I cut out the labels of all the clothes in my mother's wardrobe between 1990 and 2020 and made specimens that are displayed in order of purchase date, style, colour information and method of purchase. The labels are displayed like specimens of a woman's collection on top of another mass-produced unprinted T-shirt, mass production and synthesis in an era of rapid consumption, where consumption seems to be an inertia, where clothes that seem to last are actually time-sensitive. The work was divided between my mother and myself, with my mother collecting the clothes and arranging them for sewing. This work returns to my personal history and completes an emotional dialogue with my mother. The thirty years of my mother's life were the thirty years of China's greatest change since the opening of the country to the outside world, and the work is a record of the consumption history of an ordinary working woman in a third-tier city during these thirty years of rapid economic growth, as well as a 'portrait' of my mother.
